Sustainable Mobility

HSR Feeder Bus

HSR Citizen Forum along with HSR Cyclists Group has been instrumental in the introduction of BMTC Feeder Bus services in HSR Layout. This is the initiative of Directorate of Urban Land Transport(DULT)'s Sustainable Mobility Accords(SuMA) Initiative.

This flagship project, is first of its kind where a Government organization involved community in implementing a solution that is needed for the community. HSR is once again the test bed for any new intervention in Bangalore - HSR Feeder Bus being the first local commuter service in any layout in Bangalore. Click Here to know about this SuMA Project .

This service is a very popular commuter service covering intra-layout all sectors of HSR and connecting to outside transport at Agara and Mangammanpalya. Many seniors, women and daily commuters are benefitted by this service.

Project Overview

Application for SuMA Award

HCF & HSR Cyclist Group together presented proposal of the SuMA porject ideas to DULT and SuMA Task Force. The application process was long and required documentation of HCF's work. Based on the green shoots point, HCF receives the SuMA Award. HCF Team has been working with DULT since Oct 2020 on this project.

House Hold survey

HCF conducts scientifically designed elaborate and all inclusive house hold survey including travel diary of every member of the family, and also their suggestions for improvement of mobility infrastructure.

Focus Group Discussion

HSR Team conducted Focus Group Discussion of 6 demographics to understand qualitative input - voice of the customer - about the challenges and suggestions for improved mobility infrastructure and service. The teams were 1. Students 2. Senior Citizens 3. Women 4. Differently Enabled 5. Economically challenged 6. Those coming to HSR for work. Very useful insights obtained formed the basis of further work

On the ground survey

Based on the insights from the household survey and focus group discussions, on the ground survey for conducted to come up with the projects that aligned with the outcome of the surveys. 5 projects were identified and presented to the community at SuMA Exhibition for their vote. 3 projects were identified.

Launch of Feeder Bus

HSR Team works with DULT and BMTC to implement the top choice of HSR Community - Feeder Bus Service. The service was launched on August 1, 2023. The HSR Team works relentlessly to create awareness about the service.
