Tree guards intended to protect the saplings turn into obstacles as the tree grows. Choking also happens when the bottom of the trees are filled with concrete leaving no room for water to seep in to root. The  campaign aims to free up these restrictive barriers to help nurture and nourish the trees

• The tree guards that are installed to protect the saplings from animals and weather conditions 
• These tree guards end up becoming a trash bin filled with single use disposables 
• The bottom of the trees which are concreted by the home/business owners to have a "clean look".
• Concreted trees chokes and eventually break or fall - due to weak root system.

• Volunteers remove the restrictive tree guards
• These tree guards are painted and repaired for the new saplings.
• The concreted base is cleared to leave room around the roots for water percolation.
• Volunteers conduct regular survey in the neighborhood to identify the trees that need to be "freed up". 
• Maintenance of the trees with compost and water after this activity provides the nourishment needed for the tree to grow
