Tree cover in and around Bangalore is diminishing at an alarming rate, either due to infrastructure development or due to construction of more real estate. In many cases trees are poisoned systematically to later remove it for construction. Pure and natural oxygen sources are replaced by concrete jungle.
HSR Citizen Forum volunteers get busy before monsoon arrives, planning tree plantations. In the last few years, we have taken survey of trees that are suffocated by thick concrete around it, and cleared the concrete to give space for water to seep into the ground. We have planted many saplings, particularly on busy commercial areas where many trees were fallen.
We will continue to talk to residents to make sure that there is atleast one tree in front of every house. This will improve the green cover in the area, and fill our lungs with our deserved share of oxygen to stay healthy.
